Judy Lawn has been writing for nearly twenty five
years. Her short stories have been published in
various magazines, including NZ Woman’s Weekly, NZ
Woman’s Day, and Takahe Magazine. Judy worked as
Editor for a small suburban newspaper, ‘Local
Matters’ for two years, and wrote many profiles and
articles for the paper. Judy has taught Creative
Writing through the Community Education Programme at
Mahurangi, Orewa, and Westlake Boy’s Colleges for
six years. Her first children’s picture book The Shrimp Who Wanted to be Pink was published by Reed Publishing in 2003. A new picture book Sebastain’s Tail was published by Reed Publishing in 2008. Two of her children’s stories were produced by National Radio. Her first novel, Progressions published by Zumaya Publishing, Canada, won the Epic Award for Best Single Title/Mainstream in 2005. A second novel, a mystery and the first in what Judy hopes will be a series, Daisies Never Die was published by Zumaya Publishing in 2006.
A Fantasy Novel is completed and at present at a
publishers. She has completed the second Mystery
novel in the series, working title ‘Watch Over
Me’. Work currently in progress: picture books,
two young adult’s books, another woman’s
mainstream, and another Fantasy Novel.
