Kathy White writes for educational
and trade publishers in New Zealand and Australia. She writes fiction,
plays, and non-fiction. Her books include Alex and Josie, Problem Cat, Music Technology, Dancing to the Beat, and Dolphins, The South Pacific, A Hairy Tale, and Muffin Magic which is part of the Kiwi Bites series. Also three non-fiction books in the Connectors series being published by Global Education Systems. Writing under the name of Kathy Haddon she published Birkenhead: The Way We Were (1993). Kathy's published work has appeared in the New Zealand School Journal and Connected Journal, in The School Magazine (Australia), and in Pearson Education's magazines Comet, Explore and Challenge. She created a character called Astra, a time-travelling reporter who has featured in the Explore magazine since 1998. She has also published articles on the Xtra website. Kathy was born in Liverpool and immigrated to New Zealand in 1971. Professionally she has worked as a writer, a children's librarian and children's services coordinator, a Polytechnic tutor (in Children's Literature), a writing workshop tutor, a book sales rep, book reviewer, and as a participant in the NZ Book Council's Writers in Schools scheme. Kathy White lives in Auckland. |
