Maria Gill is a writer and
Primary school teacher. Born in Auckland
her family immigrated to Australia when she was in
her teens to travel around Australia in a caravan.
Her family came back to New Zealand when she was 16
years old. After leaving school she had a series of
secretarial jobs before she began her O.E. around
the world. In her late twenties she settled
back in New Zealand and trained to become a teacher.
She taught for several years then had a break when
she and her husband Rod Gill had two children,
Tristan and Rhiannon.
Maria now lives with her family on a lifestyle block
in Matakana and
writes fulltime. Maria Gill writes books for children and adults. Her short stories include 'Cat Attack' and 'Dog Operation' published in 'Claws and Jaws: 30 New Zealand Animal Stories' edited by Barbara Else (2004). She has also had two educational readers published with Red Rockets: 'Let's Make Pancakes' and 'Clever Camouflage'. Plus three educational books with: South Pacific Press; seven with Learning Media and two with Lift Education. Her books include:
'Homework Powerpack'
is an easy-to-understand and down-to-earth guide
