Maria Gill is a writer and ex Primary school teacher. Born in Auckland her family immigrated to Australia when she was in her teens. They travelled around in a caravan and came back to New Zealand when she was 16 years old. After leaving school she had a series of secretarial jobs before she began her O.E. around the world. In her late twenties she settled back in New Zealand and trained to become a teacher. She taught for several years then had a break when she and her husband Rod Gill had two children, Tristan and Rhiannon. Maria now lives with her family on a lifestyle block in Matakana and writes fulltime.

Maria Gill writes books for children and adults. Her short stories include 'Cat Attack' and 'Dog Operation' published in 'Claws and Jaws: 30 New Zealand Animal Stories' edited by Barbara Else (2004). She has also had two educational readers published with Red Rockets: 'Let's Make Pancakes' and 'Clever Camouflage'. Plus three educational books with South Pacific Press; seven with Learning Media and two with Lift Education.
Maria now lives with her family on a lifestyle block in Matakana and writes fulltime.

'Homework Powerpack' is an easy-to-understand and down-to-earth guide that gives an overview of the education system in all curriculum areas from Primary up to and including Intermediate levels. Kiwi Write4Kidz Author Visits -

Maria Gill is available for author talks anywhere around the country (as long as expenses are paid for). She is part of the 'Kiwi Write4Kidz Author Visits' programme. Maria entertains children from New Entrant to Year 10 utilising power point, a DVD presentation, puppets and props. She can also give writing workshops.
