Originally from the United Kingdom, Stephen studied medicine at Sheffield University, where he channelled his desire to write into student articles. Medicine has led him into some unusual locations — such as his time as a student intern in Borneo. A desire for change and adventure eventually brought Stephen to New Zealand, where he has lived for more than twenty years. It was during coastal walks with his young family that the idea for his first novel The Secret of Spirits Bay first came to life. This exciting story for 10 -14 year olds was published in 2008 by Harper Collins and was soon followed by the sequel The Riddle of The Stones.
